Metro Manila Film Festival is happening once again this Christmas (Dec. 25, 2011). A time to showcase Filipino talents and artistic creativity in film making.
It's Christmas time again! I had a hard time choosing the best song to post. I want a song that truly reflects what I feel and what I want to say. There were several but this one for me is the best!
This is the Christmas Station ID of my favorite station, ABS-CBN last year. This was during the height of the popularity of the teleserye "May Bukas Pa" where the Lord Jesus Christ is referred to as "Bro" or Big Brother by the protagonist child actor.
My only wish as you listen to this song is for you to look to Jesus and to give HIM His due recognition and glory for without Him choosing to lay down His life, we'll have no Christmas to celebrate. Siya talaga ang Star Ng Pasko!
Last Sunday when I was about to leave for Church, I made sure the know is locked before I closed the door. I don't want to repeat what happened the last time when I was surprise coming home, my door wasn't actually closed.
Unfortunately though it's not the "locked door" I should worry about, believe it or not: I LEFT MY KEY INSIDE MY HOUSE! To make it worst, nobody else has a duplicate except for my Mom who's in Mindanao and my housemate who's in Negros. To make it hopeless, the gate is still locked so I can also not get out. Talk about weird situation?
I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories.
The first story is about connecting the dots.
I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?
It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife. Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl. So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: "We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?" They said: "Of course." My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would someday go to college.
And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.
It wasn't all romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms, I returned coke bottles for the 5¢ deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you one example:
I saw a post in Facebook about Google Gravity one time. I decided to just try it out without expecting anything of course. It can be a lie again. Remember the Oprah thing?
Anyway I tried and it's turned out to be fun!
Here's how:
1) Go to Google, and type 'Google Gravity'.
2) Click on the 1st result that appears i.e. Google Gravity
3) Wait 2 seconds. Something cool will happen!
4) Play with it for a while.
5) Then write any word in the Google search bar and press Enter. 6) Wait and see. Something even cooler will happen.
"Spend more time in prayer than speculation. Spend more time interceding than choosing sides. Spend more energy loving others than arguing. Get away from the internet, get into the Scripture, go talk with God. Let's ask that he would use this season in our church to make us all more gentle, loving and broken--not more angry, self-righteous and irate. He is in this and he loves everyone involved.
It's a beautiful day outside. I'm going to go take a prayer walk."
Here's a song from Backstreet Boys that I'd like to dedicate to you! Thank you for being my perfect fan!

The Perfect Fan | Backstreet Boys LYRICS
It takes a lot to know what is love
It's not the big thing but the little things
That can mean enough
A lot of players to get me through
There is never a day that passes by
I don't think of you
You were always there for me
Pushing me and guiding me
Always to succeed
When I heard about the news, I thought to myself well he DESERVES it and started to thank God for the victory.
It was when I was chatting with a friend that made me rethink things.
This friend asked, why would we as Christians rejoice for somebody's death?
And he's right.
Because even if how sinful a man can be, he's still a man God loves unconditionally, a man whom Jesus died for just like you and me.We can all say, well his SINS are greater compared to our petty ones. But the truth of the matter is, it's still sin and God detests it. Small or Big.
So the question is, should we rejoice or should we be sad?
Thank God, I found the answer from my favorite author's blog, Joshua Harris:
Justin Taylor helpfully states that "it's appropriate for Christians to intermingle grieving and gratitude. Grief for a life made in the image of God but so destructive of human life and so dishonoring to God. And gratitude for justice being served as an instrument of God's wrath."
Now that's the right perspective!
Just like what Jesus said "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."
Everyday I start the team I'm handling with either an encouraging message, tap on the back, cute emails or even just a shout of Good Morning to wake them up and to have their balls rolling. Here's one poem I googled lately but I'm not sure where I got it from that I really think has somewhat (including me) encouraged my team to just continue no matter.
I just want to say to my team that even if we're facing great challenges lately, I promise to hold on and still believe that later or I'd prefer sooner we'll reach our GOAL together: The NUMBER 1 team in the floor! Go Team! I still believe in you!
Here's the poem:
"When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but do not quit.
Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things go wrong that you must not quit."
“A generation of Christians reared among push buttons and automatic machines is impatient of slower and less direct methods of reaching their goals. We have been trying to apply machine-age methods to our relations with God. We read our chapter, have our short devotions, and rush away, hoping to make up for our deep inward bankruptcy by attending another gospel meeting or listening to another thrilling story told by a religious adventurer lately returned from afar. The tragic results of this spirit are all about us. Shallow lives, hollow religious philosophies, the preponderance of the element of fun in gospel meetings, the glorification of men, trust in religious externalities, quasi-religious fellowships, salesmanship methods, the mistaking of dynamic personality for the power of the Spirit; these and such as these are the symptoms of an evil disease, a deep and serious malady of the soul.”
The story of God is one of Good News, and it begins with a wedding ceremony. After God created the heavens and earth and filled it, he made the man and the woman, uniting them in marriage. God created marriage for his purposes, not ours, as marriage belongs to him. He determined marriage as a sacred union on which he would build the foundation for establishing families and, ultimately, society and culture. Continue reading here: The Resurgence!
I dropped by Joshua Harris'es blogsite and gladly I did. I watched the video and really it moved me to tears. How many of us neglect God's WORD that we even forget to read it or even take care of it. To these people, it's TREASURE! And indeed it SHOULD BE!
After watching the video, I pray you'll thirst and hunger for WORD overflow and may we all just be thankful and grateful we have it readily available for us to read.
Here are 5 Taiwanese with an average age of 81 who with their sicknesses and incapabilities CHOOSE to fulfill their dreams.
They can choose to be enslaved with drugs, therapy, sorrow and sadness just like everybody else. But they didn't. They chose to do what they want to do not allowing any hindrances to stop them!
As a surprise, I decided to make (or mix) a fruit salad for her. This is already an effort as i don't usually cook (I mean this is not cooking, right?) or prepare things in the kitchen. I'm more part of the Eating Department. Lol!
Anyhow so I did it all by myself!
Here are the ingredients:
1 Today's fruit mix
2 Condensed milk
2 Nestle Cream
1 pack of raisin
1 Bar of Eden Cheese
How to do it? (this is for the very few people in the world who don't know how)
They were in Las Vegas in Part 1, this time they will be in Bangkok and it is Stu's wedding. And once again they did some pre-wedding celebration but as always things don't go as planned.
Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha are back to their roles while Mike Tyson will reappear as himself from the first film. Liam Neeson will also have a cameo appearance.
By just remembering what happened in Part I, I can't imagine how funny this film will turn out.
Here's the trailer:
Before you go, for you what's the funniest scene in Part 1?
I'm at home for a week long vacation to celebrate my mom's and sister's birthdays. Yey! On this same week as well, i'm not sure if this is a coincidence but my niece's yaya went home due to chicken pox making me the immediate (easy) replacement (the yayo). I got all smiles from my sister and brother in law. It's also ok with me though as I miss Yafit (name of my niece) so much.
Aside from sleeping, drinking milk and playing, most of our time is spent in front of the TV, specifically Playhouse Disney or eight-nine as my niece would call it (89 is the channel number)! I even answer Mickey Mouse's questions on which color is the ball he's holding and how many sheep do we see in the farm. Hotdog! Out of the many cartoon series though, there is one that I particularly like: Phineas and Ferb!
Phineas and Ferb is a story about two brothers who are on their summer vacation. Each day they create new things, discover new things and invent things everyone thought impossible. They have a pet, Platypus who is a secret agent named "agent P" whose only task is to stop everything Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz does. Conveniently the evil plan of Dr. Doofenshmirtz intertwine with what the brothers are doing, thereby removing any trace on what the boys are doing before Candace, their older sister can even show it to their mom which makes her very frustrated everytime. I hope you get the picture.
To be honest, even if it's funny, kiddie and all, I learned a very important lesson in life: TO ALWAYS DISCOVER AND DO SOMETHING NEW?
A lot of us get used to the status quo, to the current situation that we just choose to stay where we are. We are afraid to come out of our comfort zone and stress ourselves again. We ask why complicate things when everything's okay.
We can choose this life now and surely everything will be okay but at the same time everything will be just the same. Nothing new whatsoever. It had me thinking Mark Zuckerberg is just like Phineas and Ferb. If Mark just chose to stay with myspace and did not create a new thing, Facebook would have not existed.
Indeed there are potentials within us that are yet to be discovered. There are talents that are yet to be shown. We will never reach our highest potential if we don't try it out. We'll never reach our highest CANs if we're not willing to be strecthed out beyond the comfort zone.
When was the last time we did a first time? When was the last time we did something new?
There is a world waiting to be discovered and explored. Let's all think and give it a try and of course enjoy just like Phineas and Ferb.
1-3 One final word, friends. We ask you—urge is more like it—that you keep on doing what we told you to do to please God, not in a dogged religious plod, but in a living, spirited dance. You know the guidelines we laid out for you from the Master Jesus. God wants you to live a pure life. Keep yourselves from sexual promiscuity.
4-5 Learn to appreciate and give dignity to your body, not abusing it, as is so common among those who know nothing of God.
6-7 Don't run roughshod over the concerns of your brothers and sisters. Their concerns are God's concerns, and he will take care of them. We've warned you about this before. God hasn't invited us into a disorderly, unkempt life but into something holy and beautiful—as beautiful on the inside as the outside.
8 If you disregard this advice, you're not offending your neighbors; you're rejecting God, who is making you a gift of his Holy Spirit.
9-10 Regarding life together and getting along with each other, you don't need me to tell you what to do. You're God-taught in these matters.Just love one another! You're already good at it; your friends all over the province of Macedonia are the evidence. Keep it up; get better and better at it.
11-12Stay calm; mind your own business; do your own job. You've heard all this from us before, but a reminder never hurts. We want you living in a way that will command the respect of outsiders, not lying around sponging off your friends.
LOVE is a sculpture by American artist Robert Indiana. It consists of the letters LO (with the O canted sideways) over the letters VE. The image was originally designed as a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in 1964, and first exhibited as a sculpture in New York City in 1970. The original three-dimensional version of LOVE is made of COR-TEN steel and has been on exhibit at the Indianapolis Museum of Art since 1975. The LOVE design has been reproduced in a variety of formats. Likewise, the sculpture has been recreated in multiple versions and a variety of colors, and is now on display around the world.
This is to honor the Birthday of the famous Inventor Thomas Edison. Today I'd like to remember him as well by sharing some of his famous quotes that until now are helpful for our daily lives.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Thomas A. Edison
"If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves." Thomas A. Edison
"Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing." Thomas A. Edison
"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." Thomas A. Edison
I saw this as a tweet from KC Concepcion and I just got hooked. I'd like to dedicate this song to all my Friends at the Church, my Cerebro Family, Team Loki, Team Carnage, Team Mephisto, Team Sinister, my highschool batch mates, my CE and EE classmates and to my Adiong housemates back in MSU. Miss you all!
Count On Me by Bruno Mars
Count On Me by Bruno Mars LYRICS
If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea,
I'll sail the world to find you
If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see,
I'll be the light to guide you
Find out what we're made of
When we are called to help our friends in need
You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah
Woooooooh, Woooooooh
Yeah, Yeah
If you're tossing and you're turning and you just can't fall asleep,
I'll sing a song beside you
And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me,
Everyday I will remind you, ohh
Find out what we're made of
When we are called to help our friends in need
You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah
Wooooooh, Wooooooh
Yeah, Yeah
You'll always have my shoulder when you cry
I'll never let go, never say goodbye
You know you can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah
Oohhhh, ohhhhh
You can count on me cause I can count on you
I could live life alone And never fill the longings of my heart The healing warmth of someone's arms And I could live without dreams And never know the thrill of what could be With every star so far and out of reach I could live without many things And I could carry on, but
I couldn't face my life tomorrow Without Your hope in my heart I know I can't live a day without You Lord, there's no night and there's no morning Without Your loving arms to hold me You're the heartbeat of all I do I can't live a day without You
I could travel the world See all the wonders beautiful and new They'd only make me think of You And I could have all life offers Riches that were far beyond compare To grant my every wish without a care Oh, I could do anything, oh yes But if You weren't in it all
Jesus, I live because You live You're like the air I breathe Oh Jesus, oh, I have because You give You're everything to me
