James 2:26 (New King James Version)
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Reflection:
Do you believe in God? Do you believe in Jesus Christ? Do you believe in the Bible? Even the demons believe and tremble. (James 2:19)
What differs us then from the devil as far as our "belief" is concern? James has the answer: WORKS as proof of our faith.
We say "I trust in you, Lord" but we worry when problems come. We proclaim we're Christians to our workmates and families but we join them in their drinking sessions and gossip meetings. We declare we're victorious in Christ but we act as losers in times of crisis. We shout "I can do all things through Christ" but we lack confidence when we're given responsiblities.
God is telling us today to LIVE according to what we believe in, to ACT as a believer and to REACT to situations and problems as one!
I was blessed with the song Luv is A Verb by DC Talk. The whole message of the song is that LOVE is not mere word but an action word and that it's something that you actually do. Just like faith, FAITH is a Verb. A word that you act on and do!
How have you been showing your faith?

You know, I have found that when people truly love the Lord, they tend to go into action. They seek those that are hurting. They rejoice with those that are happy. They visit those that are in prison. They try to feed those that are hungry. I speak of physical and spiritual hunger. Christians that are full of the Spirit of God just do things like James said! The works are just a by product of the love of God that is inside of us. A person that is yielded to the will of God will be a busy person! You always have such meaningful posts. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteThank you brother!

Very well said. Del Tackett in the Focus on the Family Truth Project study on developing a Comprehensive Christian World View asks a question which is very much aligned with your point. The question is, "Do you really believe what you believe is really real?" After you ponder that a while it will haunt you. If just a few of us really believed what we profess to believe, the world would be turned upside down. That's what happened with the apostles and can happen today too. The question is a real soul searhing one though. Again, good post. Bryan

Mike my friend, if anyone who visits your site does not come away blessed after reading your words, they do have one big problem. Your words speak directly to one's heart. I am so glad that God allowed our paths to cross. I am truly blessed each and every time I visit.

ReplyDeleteHello Mikes and All,
ReplyDeleteBring all the people of the Earth claiming Christianity to do this consistently knowing that to which "works" here refers. Billions will have conflated: Gathered in the Holy Spirit. This is the real liberal device known as the Christian Commons of the Real Liberal Christian Church.
But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand. (Isaiah 32:8 KJV)
Peace, Real Peace,
Tom Usher
P.S. I just added a user profile with JS-kit to make commenting on your site faster and easier and automatically to track these JS-kit comments. JS-kit and coComment (still in Beta) aren't working together for some reason, or perhaps I just don't know how to set coComment to track JS-kit. Tom
